About 3 months ago I signed up to run the Denver 1/2 marathon with my aunt and cousin. This may seem normal to the average reader of my blog, but what you don't know is that I am not a runner. I have never been a runner.
While some of my siblings played team sports such as soccer (that requires running), I sat on the side lines and did what I do best---stuff my face.
Sure, I played tennis in junior high and a little part of my high school days....but that did not require constant running. You run to the ball hit it and then usually don't have to run again for awhile.
You may be asking yourself- Why in the hell did you sign up for a 1/2 marathon then???
Mostly, it was to get in shape which usually as a side effect makes you loose weight (down 15 pounds so far) but also I work best when I have a goal. Now that I have paid my seventy some dollars and have both my aunt and cousin expecting me to show up in Denver in October able to run- my feet are to the fire. No backing out of this one. So, I have been running...sort of. First it was mostly me walking, running 10 feet, trying not to pass out and then walking some more. However, now I am to the point where I can actually run....and pretty far. This morning I woke up and went for a run....I went further than I have ever gone before...I ran over a mile....just running! Tomorrow I hope to go even further.

Surprise at Work
Today I got a surprise at work from Cal. He sent me cute beer top magnets. I used them to hang up his photos and artwork he sent me a few weeks ago.

The Sharper Your Knife, The Less You Cry
I am reading this new book where a journalist fulfills one of my dreams- she goes to Le Cordon Bleu cooking school in Paris after loosing her job. So far, it is a GREAT book....I love the opening quote:
"Cooking is like love. It should be entered into with abandon, or not at all."
-Harriet Van Horne, Vogue (1956)
If you are like me and you love to cook, then I think you will love this book.... :)

RPM

I am in love with their RPM class which is basically a spinning class set to music. I finally got a pair of shoes for the class- Shimano's WM60. I can really tell a difference in the shoes and what I can get out of the class. The only hard part is getting on and off the bike!
