Happy Thanksgiving

As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them. ~John Fitzgerald Kennedy

Vino

The owners of the cafe at my work brought me a little something from Spain to enjoy tomorrow with my turkey dinner! It's a bottle of Marques de Caceres Rioja from 2002. Can't wait to try it...I was a little tempted to crack it open at work! :)

The Outdoorsy Type

So my dad just sent me some new photos of my nephew Calen and they are so cute! His little outfit that he has on looks like total outdoor/hunter/NW baby...love it! :)

My Favorite Mug

I was given a mug last year around the holidays and I just love it. It is one of my favorite things....I have tea in it almost every day at work. Most days I look like a freak for carrying it around...especially in the summer months. Now that the holidays are close my mug fits in better! :)

Twilight- The Movie

I have seen it twice and am going to go see it again tomorrow with Cam. LOVE it. I was so scared to see it; I thought there was no chance of me liking it since I love the books so much....but it is good. Real good.

Follower!

I have a follower! Sure it's just one, but I often feel like no one looks at my blog. Not that my life is all that exciting to read about, I just happen to know my own mother does not read my blog! Yeah! Thanks Koren! :)

Addicted

I am addicted to a new addition in our vending machines at work. Popcorn Indiana's Cheese popcorn. It is SO yummy. The entire bag is only 170 calories, so I tell myself it is not bad to have a bag a day. HEY! There are worse addictions to have!

New Doggie Toy

The Kmart near our house is closing down. Pabs and I went today to see what their sale was all about. We walked out with a Snapple tea (Pablo), an Icee (me- half cherry and half blue raspberry...listen, I know how to get it done), and a toy for the dogs. I do not think these will last long as most toys that pass over our threshold go to toy heaven extremely fast, but they were so cheap it was a nice treat for the dogs. So far they love them and have not yet killed them.
Max started out with the soccer ball, but as soon as the boss realized he was enjoying himself, she stole it....

Pecas...aka "The Boss"
Max with his second choice...the football.

Fire! Fire!

I love having fires when the weather is cold....doesn't happen that often in PHX! I just ordered these fire starters from Gold Canyon Candle Co. They are scented fire starters! There are 4 scents and all four smell pretty darn good! I got them home and then realized I should probably clean out my fireplace....it's still dirty from last winter! HA!

Celestial Bliss

I love tea. I think I get this from my mother, Lorie France. Each year I cannot wait for Celestial Seasonings to release their holiday teas. Last year I was wild and crazy and tried Sugar Plum (okay) and Sugar Cookie (better). This year, I start the holiday season with Gingerbread Spice!

p.s. I think my camera might be dying....it is randomly blurry and takes forever to do stuff! :(

Karaoke, anyone?

Last night Bre and Tommy picked me up and we met Beth and Lizzie for Karaoke at a new bar. Some of Beth's work friends came too. We had a pretty good time! The karaoke tunes that the local bar patron's were choosing to sing were a little depressing, but no one from our table had the balls or enough drinks to sing. Here are some shots from the night...Lizzie, me, Beth and Bre

Me and Beth...my eyes look a little psycho...
Tommy trying to lean away from me....he was our DD! Thanks TMK!Bre and Tommy (making his "O" face)Bre and Tommy (he's smiling!)

Lizzie and her boyfriend
Lizzie's boyfriend was really getting into Phantom of the Opera....yes....I am not lying. Some guy sang "Music of the Night" from Phantom of the Opera. I am telling ya, people in that place did NOT know how to pick a karaoke song!

Red Door

I have been wanting to paint our front door red. I have been picking up paint swatches for awhile now, not sure what shade of red I want. One day this week, I come home to paint on the kitchen floor. Pablo had the day off and decided to purchase red paint....I think he did pretty good with the shade of red.The Jewish culture believes painting the outside of the door will ward off evil spirits. The Chinese culture believes painting the inside of the door red will make luck and money stay inside the house....I thought it was safe to paint both sides red....no evil spirits and yes to luck and money. I think I am covered.

Barney Bites!

Today while at work, I was perusing AZ Central for news and came across this story http://www.azcentral.com/offbeat/articles/2008/11/06/20081106barneybites.html. President Bush's dog, Barney (whom I have met on a previous visit to the White House) bit a reporter! I thought the story was hilarious. When I met Barney he didn't even stop to say "hi"....he ran right past me with a "pooper scooper" aide scurrying after him!

I also was watching the Today show this morning and they did a little bit about what type of dog the Obama girls should get. My vote is for a cocker! I am a little biased....

Don't forget to

4 weeks and counting, I still have my cold. I didn't get a lot of sleep last night. I woke up at 1:25am and couldn't go back to bed due to my coughing fits....so I decided to head off to the polls around 5:30am. We heard on the news that lines were long and the average wait time was 2 hours. I don't know what is up with my area, but every time I have voted the lines are not very long. I was 9th in line and it only took me about 45 minutes and that is counting the 1/2 hour I had to wait for the polls to open.

I am taking the day off to try and get rid of this thing.....called my doctor and told them that the medicine I got last Wednesday did not do the trick so I am waiting for a call back with more prescriptions for more drugs. I am so excited to see who wins...I think it is going to be really close. Pabs disagrees, but either way I am watching CNN as I drink my TheraFlu...

Arizona State Fair

Sunday we went to the Arizona State Fair. It was the last day, so admission was free from 10am-12pm. We had a really good time! We started the day with Navajo tacos....Tommy got the works and Bre and I shared a bean and cheese.

Then we were off to win some prizes! I really wanted a big pug stuffed dog, but walked away with nothing! :(

Bre was smart. She played a game that no matter what happens- get the huge ball into the small jar or not, you win!. So she walked away with 2 goldfish...

We watched the rides, listened to someone Bre's swears is famous play his music and charge $5 for his autograph (if you ask me, that is a high price for an autograph when hardly anyone knows who you are, AND you are selling them at the STATE FAIR!). We also got to see a lot of horses...one was wearing a feather boa!

We ended the trip with curly fries and then some funnel cake. I have never had funnel cake, and ate most of the whip cream and left the cake for Bre and Tommy.

Right by the exit there was the world's biggest alligator (Al)

and the world's largest horse (Hercules)...

We just HAD to see them and walked away feeling sorry for the animals and mad at ourselves for giving $1 to their owners to see them.

Other than that Debbie Downer moment, the fair was pretty fun. (would have been more fun if Tommy would have won me that pug! :) )

Halloween

Bre and I went out to our usual Halloween party as Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. I think it was really a hit....people seemed to dig the costumes. It was really fun, but really hot!
I was Ashley Olsen...I even got hair extensions....I think that is what added to the night being so hot...

Mary Kate was not a fan of the paparazzi that was following us around...

Tommy was a blind referee...

Oops! Wrong way to the party, Tommy!

Rob went as Bret Michaels and Meaghen went as Madonna. Rob looked so much like Bret, it was a little scary!

Lauree went with her husband and this friend as the Dukes of Hazard....cute!

I remembered this guy from last year and guess I was talking about the Pink Panther the whole night (don't remember that!)....so I had to have a photo with him.....last year he was some gold god and talked to us the whole night about philosophy....thank god this year he couldn't talk due to the giant head.

We had a really good time, but this year the cops showed up 3 times and so we left early and spent the rest of the night in a bar. I think this is the last year for the party....the girl that hosts it is moving to Cali. I have no idea what we will do! :(
