Post from a Non-Runner (part deux)

So, I know that I blogged all about how I am not really a runner and now I have started running. Well for about 6-8 months my knee has really been bugging me. I finally went to the doctor to get it checked out and after an MRI and a meeting with an orthopedic surgeon, I have 5 weeks of physical therapy ahead of me....and if that doesn't work they are going to cut me open to reattach a tear (isn't that weird). Anyway, I am still allowed to run...just have to deal with the pain after. So, I am still running and still losing weight! I am now down 20 lbs....watch out bikini's I am heading your way....in about a year...and only around friends/family.

The Host....really???

If I could talk to Stephenie Meyer about her book, The Host, I would have one question- REALLY?

The main character/s is fought over by two men...didn't that happen in the Twilight series?

The main character/s is stubborn and brave....didn't that happen in the Twilight series?

The characters blow off steam by playing a team sport....didn't that happen in the Twilight series?

The characters are being chased/hunted by the villain....didn't that happen in the Twilight series?

There is major sexual tension, but no sex....didn't that happen in the Twilight series?

There is a relationship between a minor and an adult....didn't that happen in the Twilight series?

REALLY???

Could you not come up with a totally different plot line? Could you characters be a little different? (There are other personality traits that people posses)

Yes, so I read the whole thing...but let me tell ya that I was frustrated and pissed off the whole time. It was predictable and sadly lame mostly due to the fact that it was the Twilight series but with aliens.

Fogo De Chao

Saturday night we met Bre and Tommy at Fogo De Chao in Scottsdale (aka "the meat buffet"). It's a Brazilian restaurant where there is a swanky salad bar and tons of meat. You have a green and red card...green side up and the men in the little capri pants keep bringing more and more meat. I had the best mojito in the world! At the beginning everyone was green...Bring it!
Tommy's plate looked like this the entire night.
The boys loved it...
Okay....so did I!!!
Red means donezo.

We will be back....and if it were up to Pabs we would be back every day.

Butt Roll

Pecas has to go on a diet. She has a butt roll....that's right. My dog is so fat that she has a roll of fat that is on her butt. Less food and more exercise is what Dr. Mandy has prescribed. My other dogs are fine....but they do not eat unmentionables from the yard like Mrs. Pecas does.....ewww!!!

And now.....here is how big Moose is.....

Since I put up Pecas and Moose I have to put up a random of Max....

Bubble Tea

I met Bre way out in BFE for some bubble tea....people here in Phoenix call it boba, but I like to call it bubble tea. Bre and I got "raspberry snow"....it was delicious. Mine had the cutest little lid on it with cartoon broccoli, tofu, and egg.

UP

Today I met a friend and we went to see UP by Pixar. I am not really excited about the movies that are out right now...I wasn't even really excited to see UP. It was good. I was crying in the beginning and laughing my butt of during the whole thing. I am going to have to buy it when it comes out. Go and see it...it's worth it!

Post From a Non-Runner

About 3 months ago I signed up to run the Denver 1/2 marathon with my aunt and cousin. This may seem normal to the average reader of my blog, but what you don't know is that I am not a runner. I have never been a runner.

While some of my siblings played team sports such as soccer (that requires running), I sat on the side lines and did what I do best---stuff my face.

Sure, I played tennis in junior high and a little part of my high school days....but that did not require constant running. You run to the ball hit it and then usually don't have to run again for awhile.

You may be asking yourself- Why in the hell did you sign up for a 1/2 marathon then???

Mostly, it was to get in shape which usually as a side effect makes you loose weight (down 15 pounds so far) but also I work best when I have a goal. Now that I have paid my seventy some dollars and have both my aunt and cousin expecting me to show up in Denver in October able to run- my feet are to the fire. No backing out of this one. So, I have been running...sort of. First it was mostly me walking, running 10 feet, trying not to pass out and then walking some more. However, now I am to the point where I can actually run....and pretty far. This morning I woke up and went for a run....I went further than I have ever gone before...I ran over a mile....just running! Tomorrow I hope to go even further.

The Sharper Your Knife, The Less You Cry

I am reading this new book where a journalist fulfills one of my dreams- she goes to Le Cordon Bleu cooking school in Paris after loosing her job. So far, it is a GREAT book....I love the opening quote:

"Cooking is like love. It should be entered into with abandon, or not at all."
-Harriet Van Horne, Vogue (1956)

If you are like me and you love to cook, then I think you will love this book.... :)

RPM

I have been working out for the past 2 months at this gym that is covered by my insurance company (at least for 12-16 weeks the gym membership, weekly training sessions, and nutritionist are paid by UnitedHealth. Thanks United!).

I am in love with their RPM class which is basically a spinning class set to music. I finally got a pair of shoes for the class- Shimano's WM60. I can really tell a difference in the shoes and what I can get out of the class. The only hard part is getting on and off the bike!

New Friend

This is Walter. Walter comes by each night as I am washing our dinner dishes and takes care of business. Walter's business is eating bugs. Each night I wait for him and he will suddenly crawl out of my herb garden box and say "hello". Then he grabs a bite to eat.
